Those Darlins/Strange Boys @ TT The Bears
A tour has been recently announced:
Those Darlins (11:40) are on the bill as the headliner with The Strange Boys (10:30) and Gentleman Jesse and His Men (9:30) opening. Chris and I saw The Strange Boys open for Spoon a few months ago. We saw Gentleman Jesse and His Men open for Black Lips in March 2009. Never have we seen Those Darlins, although we did hear about them playing a while back.
Wavves H & E
Hopes: I hope Wavves plays mostly tracks from their brand new release, King of the Beach. I also wish they perform classics like “So Bored,” “No Hope Kids,” “Summer Goth,” “Lover,” and “California Goths.” They play for over an hour and it is one of the best concerts I have ever experienced.
Expectations: I expect Wavves to play a good chunk of old and new tunes. They play for 30-60 minutes and it is a very good show.

These are songs I like to listen to on weekend mornings. They are good songs to have coffee with and fold yr laundry, or just sit around and watch the trees. We have a couple of weeks to be at home in between working on the record and going out to play shows. This is time that I am psyched on; it is like having a vacation at home. I bought a vacuum cleaner and have just been watching movies at home and making vegan pizzas. These are good songs for mellow times around the house.

How Does KK+BBQ Break-Up Affect Almighty Defenders?
“Black Lips + King Khan & BBQ” is now “Black Lips + King Khan + BBQ” or is it? Will the Almighty Defenders legacy continue or will die just like the King Khan & BBQ Show? Surely, Sultan and Khan are only 2/7 of the super-group, but if there is some bad blood between two of them at the moment, wouldn’t that make things kind of awkward? We’ll see next Wednesday when the Defenders play at Sled Island.

Walkmen Cover Art/Boston Tour Date
Some more Walkmen related news!
First things first, they will be playing in Boston on October 7 at the Royale Nightclub, presumably headlining or co-headlining with The Helio Sequence. This is exciting!
Second, here is, again presumably, what the cover of their album Lisbon (out September 14 on Fat Possum), will look like:
The Dig: Daytrotter Session
The Dig! I’ve seen them three times live (twice opening for The Walkmen and once for Editors) and they’ve always put on a solid performance. I can almost vividly remember them playing these songs at the House of Blues. Speaking of these tunes, they are all on the band’s just released debut record Electric Toys. Expect a review of that LP soon.
