General Observation

Here is something that’s been bugging me for years…

If I am standing next to a wall or in the corner ALONE, do not fucking ask me what’s wrong! I’m not deliberately trying to be anti-social (at least most of the time), so don’t play these fucking sympathy games with me. “Hey man, what’s the matter?” You know what’s the matter? I’m not mad or being anti-social, I’m happy. It’s when fucks you like come up to me asking what’s the matter; that’s when shit becomes “the matter.” If the situation sucks, you don’t have to fucking magnify it or put it into perspective by bothering me! “Oh, I’m just a little depressed. Been listening to a lot of Morrissey lately. What the fuck do you want me to explain to you, a stranger, my life story or something? If you are a faggot, don’t think that your games are going to work on me. If you are a girl, your games might work a little more, but you’re still being a bitch. If you are just naturally worried about other people, I’m sorry that I’ve pissed on your parade, but deal with it. AND another thing. If I respond with “nothing” that doesn’t mean you have the right to ask me again…two minutes later. Got it? All right, cool.

10. “It’s True” – B+
11. “Don’t Know, Don’t Care” – C-
12. “Not That Good” – A-

Comments: When you think of Nobunny, you think of a crazy guy decked out in minimal layers of clothing and a bunny mask. Just listening to him and his ever changing crew on this record is like watching a 3-D movie with a blindfold on. This is the kind of disc that probably works the best on vinyl and I’m as apathetic towards vinyl as the next guy. Though, I must admit the digital version on headphones has some entertaining odds and ends. “Chuck Berry Holiday” is so great. WHERE DID SHE GO? I DONT KNOW! The surf/Mika Miko qualities of “Boneyard” make for a great follow-up.

Mark Sultan – “Status”

First, there is a shit load of new information posted on Mark Sultan’s home page about all of his different projects. News, tour dates, a short video clip, and a bunch of other relevantly awesome text is located here: http://marksultan.com/news.html

Make sure to read that over because the man has so much going on for him this year.

Here is a track review of a song off Sultan’s new album $, which will be released on April 13th on Last Gang Records, a pretty large Canadian focused label that’s released stuff from the likes of Metric and Death From Above 1979.

When you listen to “Status” you might be apt to confuse it for a King Khan and BBQ Show song (Invisible Girl era to be more precise) just because it’s “bigger” sounding than most of what Mark has put out solo in the past. I don’t mean to sound like I know what’s up, but Mark said that it’s more “band-like” and that’s obvious. I do enjoy the guitar riff, but at some points the song is experimental overload (guns, horns, random pounding on drums, etc), which is humorous and fitting and a little rough on the headphones.
