Why is “pop” music today so depressing? I just saw a Rihanna music video and it’s so damn stale that I can’t take it seriously. It’s a joke. Nobody gives a shit about music or music videos that much to actually take interest in watching this piece of crap. Do they? Same with Lady Gaga. I’m sure her music videos are over the top filled with craziness. Are these videos for real?
One of the bands that I regret not going to see. After all, they did come in late March, when I saw something crazy (for me) like 4 shows in 7 days. If they come to these parts later in the year or next year, I’ll surely try my best to attend.
Reminds me a little of the "Good Bad Not Evil" cover
Not too long ago somebody recommended that I learn about the historical roots of the music that I presently enjoy. You know what? Old time “garage rock” of the 60s just doesn’t have the same appeal to me as newer stuff. I tried Count Five’s Psychotic Reaction and Iggy Pop’s Raw Power and while there are some gems on those records, they just aren’t as fun through and through as say Black Lips! or Blood Visions.
It seems like “Brian Eno” is a dividing jam. Maybe some electro-pop freaks are scared away by the so called “tinny garage rock” that is this track. It’s Congratulations best tune. Check it out:
Anyone else hear any influence perhaps from Jay Reatard, who would have turned 30 years old yesterday?
“I think we’re good-bad, not evil. A lot of club owners say they don’t like us, but deep down, I think they do. We like to create an atmosphere of chaos at our shows. I really hate going to shows where people just stand around and don’t do anything — you could do that at home with a video. If you come to see the Black Lips, we’re really going to do everything we can to put on a show. And if we’re going to break stuff or go nuts, we’re all really careful not to damage the club’s equipment. We do get into some trouble, but it’s never too much trouble. I think a lot of the stories people are hearing about us are blown way out of proportion.”
