Walkmen’s Sixth Album Titled “Lisbon”

The Walkmen’s sixth studio album now has a name: Lisbon. Although the band has showcased at least sixteen new songs live and recorded twenty-nine in studio, Lisbon will only have eleven when it drops on September 14.

Click HERE to download a live recording of “Lisbon,” presumably the title track on the record. It’s of a pretty bad quality, but if you are really eager to hear something new then listen!

Very Technical No Age Album Info.

If you want to know precisely how No Age recorded their upcoming to-be-released-in-the-fall third album, then you ought to head over to here: http://www.eqmag.com/article/this-test-/May-2010/113857. If you aren’t very technically inclined (musically), the information might just be a little bit over your head. It was a little bit over mine. You should still check the article out, though.

KK+BBQ To Finish Dates

Word on the street courtesy of Bloodshot Bill (Tandoori Knights co-founder with Khan and Ding-Dongs co-founder with Sultan…talk about being in the middle of things!) courtesy of Facebook:

yo, BBQ himself asked me to post this on behalf of the band:
“king khan & BBQ want everyone to know that they are going to play all dates left on their asian tour. It’s on!”

That sounds inspiring. If I had to make a guess Kristin Klein, tour manager of KK+BBQ’s East Coast Autumn 2009 Tour and many other bands that KLYAM loves, will do everything in her power to get these dudes to reconcile and continue. It’s been mentioned before…but might this whole thing be a mere exaggeration or prank? Seriously. Maybe not, but seriously?

KK+BBQ Break-Up?! WTF!

I come home from an enjoyable vacation only to read about the possible ending of one of my favorite bands consisting of two of my favorite muscians…say what the fuck? King Khan (apparently) wrote a huge ass letter to The Daily Swarm after KK+BBQ’s performance in Australia and said:

http://www.thedailyswarm.com/swarm/king-khan-vs-sydneys-opera-house-starring-lou-reed-laurie-anderson-rubber-snakes-chinese-food-tai-chi-and-demise-king-khan-bbq-show/

We were literally told to “tone it down a notch.” This message was conveyed to us in a threatening manner and they implied we’d be kicked out the festival. With very little hesitation, I heeded the warning… no snake….no food…. I merely spilled some wine on the floor several times, an ancient gang ritual to commemorate the dead. (Jay Reatard & BJ Womack R.I.P.) At the end of the show instead of the snake I launched my guitar into the audience. The audience caught it and threw it back…. this exchange happened several times and the show was over. Returning to the backstage I opened the door to a scowling BBQ…. A HUGE SCREAMING MATCH ensued and so went the demise of the King Khan & BBQ show…. we agreed that this would be the last show ever. Wow…. what a way to die!!!! After nearly 7 years…. oh well… Lets get fucked up!!!!

I proceeded to feel very emotional… one moment in tears, crying about how two of my best warriors brothers would never know that we made it to the opera house…. I cried because this was the end of a very destructive path i had followed… it made me the world greatest sinner. Thanks to Lou and Laurie… I was beginning to see the light.

Is this true? Is it false?

Thom Yorke predicts end of mainstream music

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has said in a rare interview that young musicians shouldn’t latch onto the mainstream music industry, saying it will fold onto itself in a matter of months. He says band should release music themselves and not look to get a major record deal. Radiohead set an example of this with the release on 2007’s In Rainbows album, which had a “pay-what-you-want” method of purchase. Since then, thousands of bands and even movies have done this. What do you think of Thom’s prediction? Is it really a matter of months before teenagers will have to work a little bit harder to get the latest Lil’ Wayne track?

Jay Reatard Forever…

Not too focus solely on his death, because he led an incredible life, but here are two videos I just discovered on Jay’s passing. The first being Anthony Fantano of the Needle Drop and the second being Fox News, which I didn’t know his death ever reached the big news stories as it should have, albeit Memphis Fox News.
