Wow, can’t wait for this one. We’re HUGE Peach Kelli Pop fans and it’s always a blast when PKP comes to town. This show is on Sunday, April 19th at T.T. The Bears in Cambridge and it’s a Matinee Show going from 12PM-4PM. That’s right, you didn’t read it wrong, 12PM-4PM during the day. Presented by the best, Illegally Blind. Now, we just have to wait three more months!
Oh and here’s some legendary Boston PKP footage shot by Mr. Melody Matters. You may recognize some of the handsome gentlemen in this vid ;)
Deerhunter can’t get enough of Boston!
Just days after playing a fantastic show (of which a review will be posted within DAYZ) at the Royale, a listing on the Royale website shows Deerhunter playing October 16, 2010 (Saturday)! Well, well, well, I kid you not! By that time around I’m hoping to know Halcyon Digest in and out.
Opening, of course, is Real Estate. You see, after a while of going to shows and stuff, you notice certain bands always in the fold. What do Real Estate, Deerhunter, Kurt Vile, and K-Holes have in common? You should know.
I don’t know if me posting upcoming concerts is getting on anyone’s nerves, but I really don’t care, because I’m too damn excited! I saw The Pains of Being Pure At Heart at The Middle East almost exactly a year ago and they were pretty good. At the time, I was only a teeny bit familiar with their music. Then I listened to their LP and I was blown away. I think knowing the tunes this time around will make the show even greater.
The Pains of Being Pure At Heart- Paradise Rock Club, Boston on Wednesday, October 20- Yeah, you know this shit is KLYAM Recommended.
Why do soooooo many of my favorite shows have to be during the week?!
On Sunday, August 29, The Maine Coons will be opening for Unatural Helpers (never heard of them) at O’Brien’s Pub. I will not be in attendence because it will be my first night back to colllege, but I really dug the Coons’ performance at the PA’s Lounge a little while back, so I highly recommend you check it out. Help a strugglin’ band!
Monday, September 6, Mr. Albini and crew will hit up the Mid East. Fuck, most likley I won’t be able to make this one, but I really want to! I hear they are awesome live, so if you have a chance, go.
That’s right Klaymers, King Khan is returning to Boston with his Sensational Shrines on October 13 at the Royale! I’m highly anticipating this event considering the last Shrines show I saw was one of the finest concerts my eyes have had the privilege to witness.
Wavves is coming through town on June 22, 2010. They’ll be playing at Great Scott, where they played in September (KLYAM was in attendance). That show was pretty solid…I mean I only recognized “So Bored” and “No Hope Kids,” but still was pretty solid. Is it worth ten singles? It may be worth ten singles just to see semi-new members Billy Hayes and Stephen Pope, formerly of Jay Reatard. I can’t really picture them playing along to noise.
I updated the fuck outta the Concert Calendar for y’all. Mostly shows, I won’t see, because of time, transportation, people to go with, etc. but if I could teleport, I most likely would. Either way, the CC is there also to recommend shows, as indicated. There are a lot of great shows coming up, so check it out!
Hopes: I hope they open with hey hey, we’re the Monkees… oh wait, wrong Monkeys lol. I hope the British boys play all of my favorite tracks of course, most of which appear on Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I Am Not. My favorite AM number is “Riot Van,” so I strongly wish they perform this, even though it is highly unlikely. “Teddy Picker,” “Secret Door,” and “Cornerstone,” would be more than nice as well. Lastly, I want this to be one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen, over an hour of rockin rolling, and placed in my top 10.
Expectations: I expect that they will play “The View From the Afternoon,” “I Bet You Look Good On the Dance Floor,” and maybe one other off Whatever… I anticipate that they will play “Fluorescent Adolescent” and a few other tracks from Favourite Worst Nightmare. Most of the songs will come from their latest release, Humbug/. They will play for about an hour and it will be a great show in my top 15.
