We are beyond excited to announce………………….

KLYAM SUMMER PROGRAM #1
KENNEY PARK – 8 BONAIR ST., DAVIS SQUARE, SOMERVILLE
FREE OUTDOOR SHOW ($5 to $15 SUGGESTED CASH/VENMO)
1 to 5 PM

THE GLUE – Cash’s number one fan / outlaw country, folk, and rhythm & blues outfit led by ex-Back Baynian Lily Fein – now based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

DEW MYRON – (David) Berman’s boy – prolific urban honky tonker – turns it up and down and all around.

INSPECTOR 34 (solo) – Lowell psych pop mastermind Jim Warren goes back to where it all began – with passion, guitar, and a voice.

HEALERS CO. – Sample flooded dreamy electronica bliss with a trippy wink and nod to New Wave/80s dance aesthetics.

The Glue ‘Whatever Sticks’ Now Available On Bandcamp

The propitious debut from outlaw country outfit The Glue Whatever Sticks is now on BANDCAMPWhatever Sticks was released by KLYAM on tape in late 2018. Rave reviews followed and those without a tape player were left in the wild, wondering ‘how can I listen to this amazing band?’ For this performance, the group consisting of leader Lil (vocals/guitar/keys), Lena Dips (keys/bass/vox), Yoyopa (cello), sleuth (Sax), and Satchmington Forresterson (writer) ventured to Basin Bay, Lake George, NY.  Close affiliate James Coarse was behind the boards. Six originals and three covers – this is a pure and intimate release.

The Glue will be performing alongside Coarse’s Whip Appeal for our Hungover for the Holidaze party at the Dorchester Art Project on Friday, December 20. Metaphorically roast chestnuts!

NERVOUS GUYS To Perform Icky Boyfriends Cover Set @ Cold Spring Hollow (November 2)

NERVOUS GUYS will be performing at Cold Spring Hollow in Belchertown for Gray St Sounds #63 for Saturday, November 2. KLYAM recording artists and Cummington legends The Glue and Holyoke’s Giant Sadness will also perform on that fine evening.

Nervous Guys is a trio consisting of members of Johnnie & The Foodmasters, G. Gordon Gritty, and >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. The group has performed under various discreet aliases at noise fests around town, but for this show will be going under Nervous Guys, as a 100% tribute to the legendary Bay Area slop-core group Icky Boyfriends. The Icky Boyfriends formed around 1989 and played their first show opening for The Melvins. They cleared the room. Described as abrasive, ungodly, and sometimes unlistenable. Chris from Foodmasters plays the part of vocalist Jonathan Swift, G. Gordon Gritty myself as guitarist Shea Bond, and Brian aka Up Up Up behind the kit as Gonerfest homeboy Anthony Bedard. Let’s teeter to the edge of noise rock.

UPCOMING KLYAM SHOWS/RELEASES

SHOWS
Thursday, October 18 @ Lilypad – 10 PM Doors – All Ages, $7 to $10 Sliding Scale – Dumb Vision (Madison, Wisconsin), Boston Cream, Request Freebird, G. Gordon Gritty – A classic KLYAM show featuring our buds on tour from Madison, Wisconsin (nice city, nice bands that roll through Boston regularly) along with what could be described as an eclectic medley of supporting acts: Boston Cream has been known to incite spontaneous wild dances, Request Freebird unforgettable sing-alongs, and G. Gordon Gritty confusion. Dumb Vision splits the difference with their full-steam-ahead punk rock attack.

TAPES
American Whip Appeal
Nevermind tape – Mischief country/country glam trio originating in Newton, Massachusetts. We put our their Live In New York ditty a while back and they wasted little to no time congregating for a spontaneous ‘gospel’ record. The quotes are necessary; these kind folk spend a good chunk of their livelihood in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Glue tape – The mysterious Glue, oft hailed on this very site as one of the most exciting NEW local bands, is getting together for a Last Chance record production. YouTube viddies and the irregular show have kept us satisfied, but imagine a tape of the hits? Cello, bass, keyboard, voice. Oozing passion. Get ready.

Bong WishSongs under a Minute tape – Stated best by Mariam: “These were all made on a PC computer from 2010-2011.. I had this generic program called “Sound Recorder” that only allowed you to record up to a minute..so that’s essentially why the songs are all under a minute. I also used headphones to record everything. Was heavily influenced by Guided by Voices and Beat Happening at the time. I was still in the process of teaching myself guitar, I didn’t know you were supposed to tune a guitar so I just played whatever sounded interesting to me.” If that’s not amateurism in its perfect nature, I’m not sure what is. This is a special tape.

The Migs tape – We’ve been sitting on a comprehensive Migs compilation for three and a half years. Waiting for just the right moment to release it to the world. It’s coming. You bet.

Band of the Week: The Glue

The Glue is no longer underground! In fact the New England based group is proudly our new Band of the Week.

Maybe you were at the KLYAM show they played on November 17 or perhaps you caught ’em a week later at the Newton Underground Pop Arts and Performance Showcase. Maybe not. The Glue said that they are a one/two-times a year band, but we’re hoping that is surely not the case.

One of the more unique outfits I have caught in the past year or so, The Glue is made up of Lily (keyboard/vocals), her dad Mike (cello), Lena (bass/vocals), and Martha (keyboard/vocals). Their sets brought to mind the short, sweet, cozy unpredictability of a band like The Beets, although with a whole different set of instrumentation and performance character. The Glue were in a perfect comfort zone without a PA as Lily emerges from behind her keyboard and shouts about Ten Mile Creek. This anything-is-possible, plus classical tinged cello improvisations, nature is encouraging and liberating. Just what we all need!

Check out The Glue on YouTube:

“Pie song”
“Ten Mile Creek”
“Field of Diamonds” (Johnny Cash)
“Cut Your Bangs” (Radiator Hospital)
