Read Awesome Article Written About Colleen Green

Written by Allison Tanenhaus (we met her at a Colleen Green show, too!)

“When I planned to meet Colleen Green before her show at the Middle East’s ZuZu on August 23, I was smacked with a sinking realization – I don’t know what she looks like.

Yes, I’d been to her Myspace and her Facebook page. I’d watched live footage and listened to her limited-edition cassette. But the youtube videos were darkly lit and showed her in sunglasses. And the image on her Facebook profile and her cassette was a simple cartoon drawing (also with sunglasses, natch). I’d have to wait until after her set to approach her.”

Listen To Colleen Green Play Live On WMBR’s BoC

I woke up to the great news that Colleen was playing on Breakfast of Champions 88.1 WMBR, so I tuned in, of course. I missed a lil bit of her set/chatter, but ’cause WMBR is pretty sweet, it allows you to listen to past programs right after they are finished. So that’s what you should do, if you missed it or better yet want to listen again. It’s just Colleen and her guitar and it sounds fantastic.

Set [Begins @ 1 HR, 15 MIN]
“I Wanna Be Degraded”
“Only One”
“Mike”
“Darkest Eyes”
“Worship You”

Colleen Green’s EP “Cujo” Out Now + Catchy As FU(ZZ)

Today is music’s lucky day. Cujo, the latest offering of Colleen’s (out on Art Fag), is available now for streaming and go do that! I’ve seen “California Stoner Pop” thrown around to describe it, but like I said in the title it’s “Catchy As FU(ZZ)”. Once your ears get anointed in Colleen’s trademark drum-machine/layer of rhythmic distortion/captivating voice, it’s hard to think otherwise. I’m really blown away by “U+ME,” “Mike,” “Rabid Love” (pure pop greatness), “End of Time” (one of the lengthiest tunes of hers…the little period of overwhelming [comparatively] cleanliness is fantastic…sort of get a ‘LOUIE LOUIE’ vibe), “Jesse Has A New Girl” (sweet solo/lead guitar parts), and that song ’bout dogs “Cujo.” Did I just name every song on the EP? Think so.
