BOTW: Adam Green

Turn your noggin to the righthand side of this page. Who is that there? Why that is none other than the Adam Green Machine. Our Band of the Week or should I say Man of the Week. Green’s unique brand of pop music evokes laughter, tears, and confusion- often all at one moment. I admit I just started getting into him and have only heard one of his records, Friends of Mine (2003), which will be reviewed in the near future. I would say he is bigger than most of our featured BOTW artists, but if you have not heard of him, seriously give his work some sincere eartime. Whether you like it or not, I guarantee you will walk away scarred for life.

Kisses!

Pains- “Heart In Your Heartbreak” Music Video

08/22/2011 Chris DeCarlo Leave a comment

Here is the music video for The Pains of Being Pure At Heart’s “Heart In Your Heartbreak” from this year’s LP Belong. This video has been out for months, but I saw it for the first time today in none other than American Eagle. (Somewhat)funny story actually. I was in AE and jamming to my ipod (Black Lips rolling) and suddenly I heard a song on the loud speakers that sounded decent, based on what I could then faintly here. I thought to myself this aint bad for an AE song. I could tell the guitar riff was familiar, so I threw off my earbuds and started to give the tune my full attention. When I heard the vocals come on I knew for sure it was Pains. I was a tad bit surprised, but in this day and age it is not that surprising to hear/see a critically acclaimed underground band in a mainstream setting. Finally, a big tv screen in the back of the joint caught my attention and I realized it was the music video for Heartbreak’, which I have never seen. I just caught the last minute or so of the video, but it looked pretty interesting. In any case, here it is for all to enjoy as most of you fans have probably checked it out, checked it out, checked it out before.

P.S. So, I guess they do BELONG in shopping malls after all!

Chris’s SOTD: Nancy Sinatra- These Boots…

Here is the badass, old school, analog version of Nancy Sinatra’s classic “These Boots Are Made For Walking.” One of my personal favorites, you know especially with me being a big fan of a nice pair of boots on a gal.

King Khan, Mark Sultan, Music, Thee Oh Sees

Upcoming Releases: Mark Sultan, KK+BBQ, Thee Oh Sees

Mark Sultan might just top Thee Oh Sees in terms of amount of releases in one year. Either way, the good news is that both artists have new records coming out soon.

Sultan has two full-length LPs due out on In The Red — Whenever I Want and Whatever I Want — as well as an EP Livin’ My Life coming via his own label, Sultan Records.

That’s not all for Sultan-related stuff. King Khan & BBQ is releasing its first material in nearly two years: a 7″ that features an original “We Are The Ocean” and a Syd Barrett cover “Terrapin”. Recorded at Moon Studios this past spring. Sultan Records.

And how could a year go by without a Ding-Dongs release? This is Sultan + Bloodshot Bill as you all know. Sultan Records is putting out Lucky Day EP.

Here is the Sultan Records link before I forget.

Now, Thee Oh Sees. Earlier this year, they released Castlemania, which is awesome! Well, In The Red will be soon releasing Thee Oh Sees latest: Carrion Crawler/The Dream LP.
