The Orwells Playing The Sinclair Oct 23; On Tour W/ FIDLAR

KLYAM has mentioned The Orwells once or twice in the past few months. Maybe more. That is primarily because they are AROUND. And being AROUND often, of course,  works to the advantage of both up-and-comers and established bands. New song one day, new video a week later, new album shortly thereafter, new tour dates. You get the picture. The Orwells do.

The date: OCTOBER 23 @ The Sinclair opening for FIDLAR – whom I’ve never checked out for no reason at all. There, I’m being honest. The time will come.

Check out the rest of the tour dates and new information about The Orwells new EP Other Voices on their new website: http://theorwells.com/. See what I mean?

Smith Westerns Playing Sinclair July 27; Video For “Varsity”

Smith Westerns, everyone’s favorite former Nobunny backing band (though Bad Sports and Rock ‘n Roll Adventure Kids might just take the cake), have gone from doing just that to playing large festivals and receiving pretty widespread ‘indie’ acclaim. They’ve always been well-versed in pop hooks and judging from the Chris DeCarlo obsession “Varsity,” their next album Soft Will (Mom + Pop, June 25) will feature that kind of good stuff.

There is a video out there now for “Varsity” and while I’d normally post it, I’ll link to it: HERE. Maybe I’m just jealous of the Cameron Omori look-a-like or maybe it is simply a ridiculously cheesy music video. I’ll stick to the MP3 version, thanks.

The Smiffs are playing at The Sinclair on Saturday July 27 as part of a tour in the wake of the album’s release.

Aussie clangers The UV RACE are coming to America in May. In fact, they are hitting up O’Briens Pub here in Allston on May 20. They’ve got an album Racism that came out in January on one of the finest labels around – In The Red.

There is a video out there for “Raw Balls,” a cool track on that record I just mentioned. Check out the video:

No Age Return To Boston!!!

It’s been a year and a half. It feels longer, but at the same time, it doesn’t feel that long.

At any rate, I haven’t seen No Age since April 2, 2009. That’s far too long. They’ve got a new album coming out September 28. Get at that. Everything In Between is the title.

Most importantly, Dean, Randy, and the other dude are in town on November 16. They’ll be at the Middle East Downstairs, a choice venue. It is my favorite place to see a show after all and has vegan goodies for the dudes. It’s all ages gig, too! It’s a Tuesday night.

Woo!
