Phoenix + Wavves @ Agganis Arena

It’s happening on October 18 at Chris’ favorite last name venue… Agganis Arena! It’s a Monday night and the tickets range from 24 bucks to 38 bucks. Of course, there are fees and things like that added as well. Wavves got added to this shtick a little while ago as opener. They’re playing a little show (at least that’s the way it seems) at Brandeis University on September 18, but this is the real deal. Phoenix, according to a former substitute teacher at WHS, is the best band ever! Well, they are pretty good, I’d say.

Pains at Paradise!

I don’t know if me posting upcoming concerts is getting on anyone’s nerves, but I really don’t care, because I’m too damn excited! I saw The Pains of Being Pure At Heart at The Middle East almost exactly a year ago and they were pretty good. At the time, I was only a teeny bit familiar with their music. Then I listened to their LP and I was blown away. I think knowing the tunes this time around will make the show even greater.

The Pains of Being Pure At Heart- Paradise Rock Club, Boston on Wednesday, October 20- Yeah, you know this shit is KLYAM Recommended.

Why do soooooo many of my favorite shows have to be during the week?!

Maine Coons at O’Brien’s Pub!

On Sunday, August 29, The Maine Coons will be opening for Unatural Helpers (never heard of them) at O’Brien’s Pub. I will not be in attendence because it will be my first night back to colllege, but I really dug the Coons’ performance at the PA’s Lounge a little while back, so I highly recommend you check it out. Help a strugglin’ band!

Concert review: Arcade Fire

Band: Arcade Fire

Venue: Bank Of America Pavilion

I had the EXTREME pleasure of seeing Arcade Fire live last night. And I was blown away. Everything about it completely had me reeling from beginning to end. Opening act Young Galaxy were probably the best opening act I’ve seen. Sounding like a mixture of MUSE and Arcade Fire, they played songs off their recent release Invisible Republic. About 30 minutes later, the Arcade Fire took to the stage to the roar of the sold out pavilion. Opening with The Suburbs’ Ready To Start the entire place was mesmerized by the band. My only complaint is that the band played too many tracks off The Suburbs when not many people knew the songs. However, the songs everyone knew (No Cars Go, Intervention, Neighborhood 1-3, Rebellion (Lies) etc.) everyone sang their hearts out. Overall, a phenomenal show which I would see again in a heartbeat.

Overall: A-
