While rumours have been swirling about the possibility of a formal collaboration between the pair for sometime, Khan is finally ready to confirm that it looks like the union is going ahead. Don’t expect The Shrines’ eccentric frontman to pass himself off as the first Indian-Canadian member of Wu-Tang Clan just yet though. “The whole thing is really surreal,” he says, clearly still trying to wrap his head around the amazing turn of events.The union marks the second time that GZA has reached out to the garage rock community for musical input. Khan’s rambunctious Almighty Defender bandmates, Black Lips, first performed along side the famed hip-hoper at SXSW this past March and subsequently recorded ‘The Drop I Hold’ with the urban pioneer. Unfortunately an Almighty Defenders show is not possible. The Black Lips will be in Nashville playing at the Mercy Lounge on October 29. Poor timing, but I wouldn’t rule out an early 2010 Almighty Defenders gig. I’m pumped!

American immigration officials denied that the actor had been formally held, but Indians condemned what they called “humiliating” treatment given to Khan, a Muslim who is well-loved in a largely Hindu country. One Cabinet minister suggested a “tit-for-tat” policy toward Americans travelling to India.Angry fans in the northern city of Allahabad shouted anti-US slogans and burned an American flag.
Khan said he was detained on Friday by US immigration officials at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey because his name came up on a computer alert list.
The actor is in the US to promote “My Name is Khan”, a new film about racial profiling of Muslims after the Sept 11, 2001, attacks.
The story was front-page news in India, where the ability to avoid being frisked at airports is seen as a status symbol. Politicians, sports celebrities and film stars often claim VIP status to avoid security checks.
Ooops, wrong King Khan. I was hoping for another Black Lips type incident except no safe escape.

History and Formation: Formed in Berlin, Germany in February 2009 shortly after the Black Lips fled India after an incident of homosexuality and nudity.
