New Natural Child 7-inch “Mother Nature’s Daughter”/ Tour Dates

The busiest dudes in Nashville, Natti Child (I think I am the only one that refers to them by this moniker, perhaps) put out yet another release! A 7″ entitled “Mother Nature’s Daughter” on Jeffery Drag Records. I’m digging it, reminds me of Neil Young and I am not just saying that because pretty much everyone will also say this too, I guarantee you. I made sure not to look at any other reviews before listening to this track. The band wears their influences on their sleeves, but if you love those influences as much as the band does then you will most likely appreciate the band itself. One of the top rock ‘n’ roll bands in the land and their head heading on tour again, so don’t stay at home and wack it.

Flashback: Black Lips Live in Strasbourg (6/10/04)

Tis time for yet another band flashback. In this segment, if you will, I like to take a time machine back to an earlier period in one of our favorite artist’s (most likely the Black Lips) careers. This here is one of my favorite Black Lips live videos! I love seeing this ancient, early footage of the band. Wish there was more out there, so let’s cherish what we got. This is part 1 of the Lips performing a set at a place called the Zanzibar in Strasbourg, France and it took place on June 10, 2004- just weeks after the release of their sophomore effort, We Did Not Know The Forest Spirit Made The Flowers Grow. Of course, something is missing here or should I say someone- no Ian!  :(  not for a few more months I believe… ahh but Richie Hayes (correct?) takes care of lead guitar duties.  I also find it interesting that the band opens with “I’ve Got A Knife” here, because I’ve seen a few videos from this era where they start the show with this same number; I wonder if that was a standard for them like “Sea of Blasphemy” has been a signature show opener for the past few years? Well anyway, enjoy. But don’t stop at just 1!

P.S. Pause it at 5:16 a poster for King Khan & The Shrines- Three Hairs and Your Mine. If my history is correct then this is the exact same European tour where the Lips met Khan! Ohh God, I know way too much about this shit than any healthy child should…
