Finally Next Day Blinds…

Who? Haha, well I bet you know some of the members or their respective bands that became popular in the coming years. Notable members include Cole Alexander, Jack Hines, and Ben Eberbaugh of the Black Lips and Spooks as well as Coline Mee of Deerhunter, amongst others. Naturally, line up changes have occured in those groups and those do not represent the current line ups for either band, but all of those dudes made notable contributions to the aforementioned classic Atlanta bands.

BOTW: Big Mess!

Hey y’all tis a beautiful day in the neighborhood because our prestigious Band of the Week is none other than Lowell’s finest, Big Mess. I’ve seen these guys a few times now and every time they have been outstanding. They are an all instrumental band (at least live), with some great guitar hooks. The drums are truly a powerhouse. All in all, an excellent sonic experience. Check them out!

BOTW: Maine Coons

Yessir indeed, the one and only Maine Coons! Everywhere I go (music related) I drop my two favorite cum punk bands Cumstain and the Maine Coons. The Maine Coons is one man insane pop mastermind, Dave Spent. Good work Dave! MC is one of the finest bands roaming the planet right now, and I don’t toss around those words lightly. Seriously catchy jams of the Black Lips, King Khan & BBQ Show, Nobunny, Beets, Fat History Month variety. I cannot emphasize anymore how awesome this band is. Check out “My Kinda Luv,” “Hey Dickhead,” “Ghetto Queen,” ” I Am a Motherfucker,”- you know what just check out the whole Maine Coons LP from last year. Here is a mini review I did, placing the record in my top ten for twenty ten: https://klyam.com/2010/12/07/chriss-top-ten-of-twenty-ten/

Tell two friends about the Maine Coons and tell them to tell two friends and eventually the world will live as one or we will all end up killing each other and sleeping with our cousins, it could go either way.  But, don’t you want to be one of those cool kids that can brag to your friends that you knew this band before it was cool!

Chill Sheeet

This is one of the best playlists/mixes I have ever made, or at least one of my favorites.  It consists, for the most part, of old 50s-60s doo wop, rock and roll ballads and Atlas Sound covers of such songs. All of the songs are very chill and have a dream-like quality to them, perfect for the wee hours of the morning, when the sun is risin’.

1) Atlas Sound– “Blue Moon” (The Marcels) (2009)

2) Atlas Sound– “Ativan” (2008)

3) Bobby Vinton– “Mr. Lonely” (1962)

4) The Righteous Brothers– “Unchained Melody” (1965)

5) Lotus Plaza– “Rain Down” (2009)

6) Atlas Sound– “I’ll Be Your Mirror” (Velvet Underground) (2008)

7) Pixies– “Wave of Mutilation” (UK Surf) (1989)

8) Roy Orbison– “In Dreams” (1963)

9) The Everly Brothers– “All I Have to Do Is Dream” (1958)

10) The Platters– “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” (1958)

11) Best Coast– “Sun Was High (So Was I)” (2009)

12) Best Coast– “So Gone” (2009)

13) Beach Boys– “In My Room” (1963)

14) The Duprees- “You Belong to Me” (1964)

15) Atlas Sound– “You Belong to Me” (The Duprees) (2007)
