New Black Lips Single: “Sick Of You”

Featuring two Arabia Mountain leftovers, “Sick Of You” and “Dance With You”. You can download the latter (HERE). Not quite a top Lips number in my book… maybe it will take some growing. Who knows?

Last year around this time the Lips were trekking across the US. It doesn’t appear they will be doing that anytime soon. June or July, maybe if we get lucky. Otherwise, not for a while! Here is a link to their tour schedule for the next few months: http://www.vicerecords.com/vicerecords/tours.php

Wavves- “Wavves” (Live at Amoeba 2010)

This is from a little while back, when Billy Hayes was still with the group. Looking good Billy! Definitely one of my favorite Wavves numbers, unfortunatley the studio version has been taken down, so here’s a live cut from their performance at Amoeba Records on August 18, 2010. Also, here’s a link to the full set and interview: http://www.amoeba.com/live-shows/videos/wavves.html

THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART @ AFTER HOURS 4/10/12

New York’s finest, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, an early KLYAM fave, are apparently playing a free show with Bear Hands at After Hours, a venue at Northeastern University tomorrow night (April 10, 2012). This is news to me, in fact I check local listings almost constantly, and so this must have been posted within the past few days, or else I just fucked up. Alas, I probably won’t make this one, which sucks because I have missed their past two Boston shows, but I highly recommend it to y’all KLYAM readers and Pains fans alike. I wish they had advertised this a bit more, though I can see why they would keep it low key. I found out through Song Kick, which I check frequently. Future Breed, another reliable source for local concerts (which I just stumbled upon today) also has the show posted.

Hear More NOBUNNY! “At The Mall”

This is the back cover. The front cover is cool, too.

Wouldn’t it be something if this trend continued. A new Nobunny track every few days? Well, KLYAM would love that as I’m sure everybunny else would the same. God bless the charitable Nobunny! This one is brief, but unrelenting. Not for punks! Yes for KLYAMers.

Stay tuned for more Nobunny, including a new LP on Goner in just a few months !!!

Natural Child SXSW Interview

Here’s a quick SXSW interview with Natural Child conducted by Balcony TV. As Glen used to say, when it rains, it pours around here, and if you have been paying attention (as you should be) then you would know that Natural Child is a massive KLYAM fave. Check them out, use the internet.

An Interesting Thought

I was just thinking (and have thought before) that it would have been an awesome thing to be into the music that I love now circa 2006/2007/2008. But at the same time, it would have been a bummer to miss out on so many great 18 and 21+ plus shows. So with that, it seems like a natural progression that I moved on (not completely, though) from bigger sounding rock and roll bands like Editors, Peter Bjorn and John, and The Libertines to lesser known, dirtier sounding/rock n roll and punk (no need for examples, just look around KLYAM). These past three years or so have been positively amazing in terms of music experiences and I’m sure it’s only going to get better as time passes. Don’t waste your youth, Kids!

Check Out Harlem’s Curtis Omara’s Band: Grape St.

Been wondering what Harlem has been doing lately? Well drummer/guitarist/songwriter/vocalist Curtis Omara has this cool band, Grape St. Harlem people will dig it and it definitely has a different perspective on things than Harlem (albeit in a minor way).
