This is one of my favorite Peach Kelli sa-ongs :). More people need to get turned on to this band! If you’re reading this, tell your friends, girlfriends, boyfriends, brothers, sisters, moms, dads, grandma/pa, co-workers, bosses, local congressmen, the whole crew.

Great Frank Sinatra Drinking Quotes

“Alcohol may be man’s worst enemy, but the bible says love your enemy. “
“I feel sorry for people who don’t drink. When they wake up in the morning, that’s as good as they’re going to feel all day.”
“Basically, I’m for anything that gets you through the night – be it prayer, tranquilizers or a bottle of Jack Daniels. “
BOTW: Adam Green

Turn your noggin to the righthand side of this page. Who is that there? Why that is none other than the Adam Green Machine. Our Band of the Week or should I say Man of the Week. Green’s unique brand of pop music evokes laughter, tears, and confusion- often all at one moment. I admit I just started getting into him and have only heard one of his records, Friends of Mine (2003), which will be reviewed in the near future. I would say he is bigger than most of our featured BOTW artists, but if you have not heard of him, seriously give his work some sincere eartime. Whether you like it or not, I guarantee you will walk away scarred for life.

Pains- “Heart In Your Heartbreak” Music Video
Here is the music video for The Pains of Being Pure At Heart’s “Heart In Your Heartbreak” from this year’s LP Belong. This video has been out for months, but I saw it for the first time today in none other than American Eagle. (Somewhat)funny story actually. I was in AE and jamming to my ipod (Black Lips rolling) and suddenly I heard a song on the loud speakers that sounded decent, based on what I could then faintly here. I thought to myself this aint bad for an AE song. I could tell the guitar riff was familiar, so I threw off my earbuds and started to give the tune my full attention. When I heard the vocals come on I knew for sure it was Pains. I was a tad bit surprised, but in this day and age it is not that surprising to hear/see a critically acclaimed underground band in a mainstream setting. Finally, a big tv screen in the back of the joint caught my attention and I realized it was the music video for Heartbreak’, which I have never seen. I just caught the last minute or so of the video, but it looked pretty interesting. In any case, here it is for all to enjoy as most of you fans have probably checked it out, checked it out, checked it out before.
P.S. So, I guess they do BELONG in shopping malls after all!
Greatest Interview Ever!
Perhaps not. But, still a classic. Just a nice little glimpse into the world of Black Flag and underground music in 1984. It is equally humorous and awkward.
“So, how’s your NOT-tour going?”- Henry Rollins
Chris’s SOTD: Nancy Sinatra- These Boots…
Here is the badass, old school, analog version of Nancy Sinatra’s classic “These Boots Are Made For Walking.” One of my personal favorites, you know especially with me being a big fan of a nice pair of boots on a gal.
Black Lips Get Uncapped

The Lips explain how they are helping out some up and coming bands in the music world. “[In] Chicago, we’ve got the Mannequin Men; in Minneapolis, we’ve got Birthday Suits, and we’ve played with them a lot of times over the years. They’re cool. They’re from Japan.”- Jared Swilley on MTV News.
Two of the West Memphis Three Being Released

http://www.wreg.com/news/wreg-west-memphis-3-freed,0,5347577.story
I don’t know a whole lot about the details of this story, but from what I gather it is extremely odd. The West Memphis Three were a group of teenagers that were convicted for the brutal murders of three children. Throughout and after the trial there was a heavy chunk of information suggesting that the WM3 were wrongfully accussed of the murders, even celebrity led campaigns have been made from the likes of Johnny Depp and several others over the years. I myself am convinced that there was not enough evidence to convict any of them of the crimes (not necessarily innocent, but not guilty either). Okay, so now the odd thing is that apparently two of the men will be released if they admit to guilt. Whether you think they are guilty, not guilty, or innocent, this makes no sense. Anybody else have any thoughts on this matter?
P.S. check out a great documentary on the WM3 entitled Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills (1996).
Better Than Something Interview
Better Than Something directors, Alex Hammond and Ian Markiewicz discuss the making of the film, Jay’s story, and his death, amongst other things. I really can’t wait to see this film!
SPIN’s Top Ten Lollapalooza Sets/Lips # 2!

Yessir, Black Lips at #2, should have been #1! Other notables (at least from my perspective as a fan) include Ween (#5), The Pains of Being Pure At Heart (#7), and Bright Eyes (#8).
