KLYAMER Shuffle: Andrew

So let’s see what I have on shuffle

“The Black Angel’s Death Song”-The Velvet Underground (1967)- A perfect song that shows how important John Cale was to the band.

“Come On”-The Jesus and Mary Chain (1994)- A strong song from one of my favorite bands of all time.

“The Caterpillar”-The Cure (1984)- An old Japanese song from one of the most influential bands in history.

“It’s Just Begun”-She Wants Revenge (2007)- Kind of like Joy Division but without the subtilty.

“Little Wonder”-David Bowie (1997)- Electronic Bowie, not his finest hour but is there such a thing as a bad David Bowie song.

“Dig for Fire”-Pixies (1990)- Black Francis doing his thing.

“Fragile Tenison”-Depeche Mode (2009)- From the newest Depeche Mode album, meaning old school Depeche Mode.

“Yellow Leaves”-IO Perry (2009)- From a very talented singer songwriter.

“Happiness is a Warm Gun”-The Breeders (1968/1990)- A Beatles cover done right.

“Guess I’m Doing Fine”-Beck (2002)- Powerful song from arguably one of the top 10 albums of 00’s.

I can’t tell you how happy I am these songs came up because I have some real embarrassing stuff on my IPOD

Post ‘Oasis’ Beady Eye Releases ‘Bring The Light’

First let me I am a big Oasis fan and one of my biggest disappointments is that I probably will never get the chance to see them live. Anyway after another nasty split by the Gallagher brothers, Liam Gallagher,Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock formed the band Beady Eye while Noel Gallagher (and primary song writer for Oasis) slowly launches his solo career. Time will tell who ends up more successful but Beady Eye has released the first song of their yet untitled album. Can’t say I like it as much as some of the best Oasis songs though.

if you really love the track you can download it for free from the band’s website

Band Recommendation-We Were Promised Jetpacks

I first heard these guys as the opening act at a Tokyo Police Club Show, then I heard them again as the opening act for Jimmy Eat World, and I must admit it wasn’t love at first listen, I liked, but I didn’t love. But after seeing them a second time and getting their album “These Four Walls” and their EP “The Last Place You’ll Look” I grew to love them. Their sound is unique, the lead singer has a distinct Scottish accent, musically they sound a little like the acts they opened for, but much more moody and edgier. They are defiantly worth a listen to. I posted the first two tracks off their debut album “These Four Walls” 1) It’s Thunder and It’s Lightning 2) Ships With Holes Will Sink.

The Breeders — Night Of Joy

I never thought that The Breeders got the respect they deserved, they were the first live show I ever saw in Boston so they defiantly have a special place for me anyway, but more than that, after 1993’s ‘Last Splash’ they kind of fell off everyone’s radar (low album sales didn’t help matters either). Still they put out a strong body of work, this is from their last album, 2008’s ‘Mountain Battles’.

The Chameleons “Swamp Thing” live at The Bell House, Brooklyn & “Caution”

The Chameleons released one more album in their prime, the melancholy ‘Strange Times’ which again scored rave reviews but little sales, outside their cult status. Honestly the entire album is magnificent so I went with two videos this time, the first is probably one of my all time top ten songs “Swamp Thing” performed live, the second is an album version of another excellent song “Caution”, enjoy.
