That’s right! Just a couple of weeks away. Opening for Tumbleweed Company.

That’s right, KLYAM faves No Age are playing in MA again! If you don’t know already they are one of our top three favorite live acts and it really means the world to us any and every chance we get to see them. This time they are playing at Chum’s Coffehouse in Waltham, MA @ Brandeis University on Saturday, March 10.
Damn, and I thought I was pumped for Bad Brains!

Hooking Up is a band from Virginia. To describe them, I would say thick and exciting. From the sounds of their 7″ Groin Pains (Evil Weevil Records, 2012), the band is pretty straight-laced, just a real distinct rolling bass, drums, and vocals. The bass and singing style really stick out. The tunes flow so nicely. From the 7″, I love it all, but in particular the opener and closer, “Heavy” and “Sell Yourself.” The former reminds me of The Orwells in its solid production and groove. “I liked it when you were hot shit!” Nice screams and noises in the background at the end there. “Sell Yourself” starts out sparse and melodic before cranking it up several notches. ‘Course the melody never fades and we are left with something the Lovely Feathers might have done if they decided to be less weird, crunchier, and ballsier. The hooks are everywhere.
Well, for starters, check out that 7″ at their bandcamp or from Evil Weevil. And I’m in luck…they are playing at the Whitehaus on Friday March 9.

Here’s a live video I recently viewed of my favorite Atlas Sound song, “Artificial Snow.” I know I’m a little behind and I’m sure Christmas is the last thing on everyone’s mind, but nonetheless this is a great performance from Bradford.

Making their way to the top of the venue chain are the Black Keys. They last played Boston in 2010 at a sold-out Bank of America Pavilion. The Arctic Monkeys themselves have climbed through the ranks and will play their first Boston arena show as the opening act. Is this a must see event for a pretty big Arctics fan? I’ve never seen a concert at the Garden and, in fact, have just one arena show to my credit — Bob Dylan & Elvis Costello at the Ryan Center in Rhode Island. It could very well be a first.
