I’m so Agitated is catchier. So is Cyclotron.
I find myself liking the guitar tones and slower pace of ‘fags’ than the two you mentioned.
I’m so Agitated sticks in one’s mind after the first listen which is a good achievement when it comes to song writing. If you write a song that achieves this then then you have no choice but to be very proud of that. I must admit to considering catchiness to be important though there are others who seem to think it plays to more a pop sensibility and they may consider this to be too lowest common denominator.To be able to write a catchy song I think one must not be in thrall to this type of what can be described as snobbery. Not that I’m suggesting that you are such a person.
I tend to use the two interchangeably, that is pop sensibility and and catchiness. What sticks in your mind may not stick in my mind. If the song creates value for you, I can’t deny that. This gets into the subjectivity of music. Whatever does good for you, right? Some forms of music snobbery are justified. A simple dance-pop song may stick in your mind, regardless of whether you like it. Most mainstream music on a most basic level is written by *good songwriters*, but the songwriters I admire most don’t do their shit on a most basic level, which to me is defined as cut-and-paste hooks, vocal modification, lack of instruments and noisiness. You know what I’m talking about. To get into a disagreement about two or three unknown songs is petty.
Ah, it’s not terribly important. It’s just that some people go out of their way to make a song not catchy. Besides, originality is an important thing and some thing manufactured somewhere obviously based on commercial considerations by a machine will not have that. Isn’t it good that the Electric Eels aren’t so obviously like anyone else particularly for that time?
I didn’t mean this to be an argument, just simply using this to go into what people think when they write songs. You have made up stuff and posted it here, so you should know it’s a very interesting thing to do, the process of composing something and what goes on to make it come out as it does.
