Been on a bit of a Bowie and Stones kick lately, so I am really glad to do this song.
First The Rolling Stones:
Next David Bowie:
Really like Bowie’s version but I am going with the original, but I am going with the Stones version. Just a matter of taste really.
Bowie also covered “the Alabama Song” more popularised by the Doors (though it is a much older song than that) for “Scary Monsters and Super Creeps” and The Pink Floyd’s “See Emily Play” which was done after his Aladdin Sane album and before Diamond Dogs. Bowie did not try to mimic the originals though his Alabama Song is truer to the German original than the Doors’ version is.
May I suggest “Dancing In The Street”?
I wouldn’t. That’s probably the least interesting Bowie cover despite the presence of Jagger.
