“Black Lips + King Khan & BBQ” is now “Black Lips + King Khan + BBQ” or is it? Will the Almighty Defenders legacy continue or will die just like the King Khan & BBQ Show? Surely, Sultan and Khan are only 2/7 of the super-group, but if there is some bad blood between two of them at the moment, wouldn’t that make things kind of awkward? We’ll see next Wednesday when the Defenders play at Sled Island.

It depends on what you want to believe. One blog has second hand information suggesting that Khan wants out of the business – remember what he said in that statement that he posted. All this about the Korean so-called female I presume Buddhist monk and that which was mentioned in the other statement posted by the promoter or Mark or someone. The second hand info said that Khan was giving it up to live in this all female Korean monastery (wouldn’t that be a nunnery?). Now he’s done these religious visions and meeting so-called wise people before so this might mean very little. I have some examples if you want them of such things…
If the Almighty Defenders survive, it will probably be without Mark, if Khan doesn’t give it all up for the monastery. Mark sort of is the odd man out and the Black Lips bring out Khan’s effervescent nature, unlike Mark who tries to suppress it. If Khan resigns from show business then perhaps they carry on with Mark… I would bet that if the Defenders survive it would be with Khan and without Mark. I think there’s a good chance that they’re through.
Khan is one of the hosts of the Sled Island festival along with Quintron and Miss Pussycat, I think that’s what it’s called.
They really hate each other right now. It’s no joke.
Looks like there has been a little confusion. Sultan insists that the promoter wanted both of them to play as the KK+BBQ Show in Korea, but the promoter insists he announced it as a solo Sultan show. Promoter calls Sultan “ultra-sensitive” and “paranoid” and the rest is history.
Mark hasn’t changed… The announcement took place after the KKBBQ show at Daegu and there are pictures of that show on line. Supposedly the Seoul show was aborted.
