“A Decade of Debauchery: Die Slaughterhaus Hits the Double Digits”

Old King Cole YOUNGER!-  Photo by  Adam Bruneau. JHONI JACKSON’s archives: features, reviews and more

This is a year old, but I just found this to be far too informative and fun not to share it with you punk slimers out there. Here’s a great article by Jhoni Jackson about the Die Slaughterhaus’s tenth anniversery. The Die Slaughterhaus was a house venue turned label that began in 2001 in Atlanta, GA, showcasing the likes of some of the greatest rock and rollers of our generation in the form of the Black Lips, Deerhunter, the Carbonas, and more. This article/interview focuses mostly on the role of label head, Mark Naumann and how his particpation in this moment in time helped paved the way for similar artists/labels/venues in the Atlanta punk music scene(s) and beyond. Playboy.com’s Exclusive Interview With The Black Lips

Playboy.com: Who is your favorite pornstar?

The Black Lips: Sasha Grey! I like how she was able to put all of her past behind her, because you know sex is a part of human nature and if you are filmed while doing it and enjoy doing it so what? I respect that. And now she’s doing her thing and I really respect that.

Nice! Here is a link to the whole interview: http://www.playboy.com/playground/entertainment/music/playboycoms-exclusive-interview-with-the-black-lips

Black Lips Coachella 2012, Cole “Whips Out Twiddle Rompus”…

Cole Alexander- Rolling Stone

Here’s a link to an article by the Christ Wire that I find very suspect, but nonetheless entertaining in classic, Black Lips mythological fashion. http://christwire.org/2012/04/coachella-lineup-2012-the-black-lips-cole-alexander-whips-out-twiddle-rompus-plays-guitar-with-it/

New Black Lips Single: “Sick Of You”

Featuring two Arabia Mountain leftovers, “Sick Of You” and “Dance With You”. You can download the latter (HERE). Not quite a top Lips number in my book… maybe it will take some growing. Who knows?

Last year around this time the Lips were trekking across the US. It doesn’t appear they will be doing that anytime soon. June or July, maybe if we get lucky. Otherwise, not for a while! Here is a link to their tour schedule for the next few months: http://www.vicerecords.com/vicerecords/tours.php

Two Years Ago Today…

Two years ago today was one of the greatest experiences in my whole life and possibly the best show I have ever attended. On March 25, 2010 KLYAM and friends and hundreds of others at the Middle East witnessed the greatness of our favorite band The Black Lips as well as the somewhat short lived, but nonetheless phenomenial Box Elders. It was indeed an amazing show, local mainstays, Movers and Shakers opened the show as well. Good times. Great times actually.
