Aaron Sorkin on The Social Network

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGVFvoMC46g

The Social Network (2010) was my favorite film from last year (should have won Best Picture!) and one of my all time favorites in general and much of  that admiration is a result of Aaron Sorkin’s brilliant screenplay. His script has inspired my own writing as I am starting my first forays into seriously writing fiction.

Here’s my review of The Social Network from last year. It’s not one of my best, but check it out anyway.

Billboard: Black Lips- “Modern Art” Live + Q&A

Black Lips perform on top of  a roof and Cole and Ian provide some insight on their work with Mark Ronson, commercial success, bullshit trends, and phony “intellectual” dolts.

Fuck yeah! I just hope they branch off into other Arabia tracks, but these are certainly more than fine anthems to jostle the oft-sedated music world.  “Family Tree” is my current fave from this new LP.  What is yours?

Band Rec: The Roaches

This pic is not actually affiliated with the group haha.

The Roaches are a Boston Rock and Roll band that kick some serious ass, as serious as an ass can get. These gentlemen hark back to 90s Memphis Garage icons,  The Oblivians and take their raw, energetic sound to a whole new level. In the link below one can find their latest output: The Roaches... Live Forever (demos ’11) and though they are just demos right now there is a lot of potentional and you can definitely hear strong songs in nearly all of these ditties. My favorite right now is “Be Afraid.”
