First up: The original
The Kinks:
Next: The cover
Van Halen:
I’m definitely going with the original, The Kinks were probably the most rockin band when they unleashed this slimy single on the world, a major precursor for heavier bands. The song in many ways invented (bothy lyrically and musically) a new kind of pop/love song for music. With that being said, Van Halen deliver a mean cover in the rowdy spirit of the original and beef it up a little bit more. Both are classics are in their own right.
What do y’all think?
I am going with the Kinks too, I might be a heratic for saying this but I coulde never dig Van Halen
Nah, I hear ya, they are extremely overated and spawned or at least helped pave the way for a horrible era of music- Hair Metal and other shitty, built for a buck 80s music ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Which, for some reason people nowadays seem to associate it as “classic rock.” And I’m so sick of all these dumbed down reality/game shows recessitating the careers of washed up celeberties from the 80s, 90s, etc like Bret Michaels, who didn’t have much of substance to contribute anyway. But to me, Van Halen was a badass band in their prime with Diamond Dave. I’m not a huge fan, but some of their material is classic rock and roll.
