  1. This is not typical of King Khan. There’s not much information about it out there. I can’t say whether this is being taken seriously or not but right now I don’t think that it is. There’s only been two reviews for it published so far. Unlike Tandoori Knights it’s not being carried by a well-known label. King Khan is not mentioned on the front of the record sleeve and his name and picture are not used. Compare that to Tandoori Knights or the Ding-Dongs where pictures are used to remind people of the principals. There’s mystery here. No one knows what the lead singer looks like. That is why this is ideal to be the song of the day.

  2. It doesn’t seem very serious…almost the equivalent of any high school band messing around and putting out some record without telling many people. If you think about it, only people that do some committed research/are in the “know” will ever find out about this. Even if you walk into Goner Records or what have you, I’m sure only a handful of people actually recognize the band or can make any association. Also, there aren’t too many elements on this that couldn’t easily be produced by one or two men not named King Khan and besides Ritalin. Also just listening…there isn’t a second guitar.

    1. I think it’s clear that there is not a second guitar for this track. Some of the tracks have one. Some tracks have a very different sound for the rhythm guitar than do others.

Goner is selling it as a bit of a train wreck with the Icky Boyfriends comparison. The lyrics in particular have been noticed as being unusual.

The Montreal Mirror music critic gave this a better rating than he gave the last Demon’s Claws record. He also gave it a better rating than a Red Mass record recently re-issued. The other review was done by someone who expressed dislike for the Red Mass but liked this one and was hoping for more releases.

So do you think that they’re right to not take it too seriously? By the way, I think that there were only two acts that King Khan really took seriously in recent times, and now there is only one.

  3. I see that the klyam have posted on YouTube their own rendition of this song. It must be the most obscure song to get the monotonal klyam treatment – funny thing is that at least one reviewer thinks that the original material is delivered in a monotone. “Ritalin’s monotoned monologues are appropriately silly”, Terminal Boredom declares in its review for the record “Amon Ra Bless America”.

    1. how would you say my impersonation of Ritalin is, it’s not that easy to be monotone

      1. also did karaoke to tandoori knights. if you don’t mind giving me feedback on my indian accent

      2. Not easy? Judging on what I have seen and heard so far, it’s natural for you. I noticed that Khan tried the accent for some of those Tandoori Knights songs but I haven’t heard the original of that one. His natural accent is West Island Montreal. There’s this video where he plays a character who moves from Elvis to Mexican every 10 seconds and at one point he moves into an Indian accent.
