  1. Funny except the following aren’t indie bands:

The Flaming Lips, PJ Harvey, Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab For Cutie

    So that site fails.

  2. Well it could be argued that “indie” describes their sound, rather than the status of their labels.

  3. I don’t think that can be argued Ben. How is “indie” a sound? It’s meant to mean bands signed to an independent label. Calling it a sound is an insult to rock music and all its derivative forms and sub-genres.

  4. Which is why my “independent” station keeps on playing “Stand Up Comedy” by U2.

  5. Well how about your favorite, “The Left End”? Are those acts mostly “truly” independent or just a bunch of corporate bullshit? By the way, Gabso says hi…and that you make good requests.

    1. That’s a good query Ben. Gabso would know for sure, but I’d say Left End is at least 60 or 70% independent.

    1. I don’t like it because of its independent orientation. For starters, I recognize and like a good share of the songs played compared to the other programs, of which I am less familiar with (except maybe Daytime).

  6. Yeah, this is an ongoing debate, but I just hate the term indie because its so vague.
