That’s right folks, the one and only Bradford Cox aka Atlas Sound is making a stop at Boston’s Paradise Rock Club on Thursday March 8! Just like Smith Westerns, who I will be seeing this Sunday, Atlas Sound is one of the top current artists that I am dying to see live. Pitchfork just released the tour information today:

Here’s a live video I recently viewed of my favorite Atlas Sound song, “Artificial Snow.”  I know I’m a little behind and I’m sure Christmas is the last thing on everyone’s mind, but nonetheless this is a great performance from Bradford.

Today is John Belushi’s birthday and if he were alive today he would be 63. Sadly, he died thirty years ago today. RIP and Happy Birthday!

I love the Black Flag shirt! He was a big fan and tried to get them on SNL like he did for Fear. Belushi and old school punk rock always makes a great combo.

I miss these guys! Definitely one of the most underated bands of the past five years or more.

Whether there will be no more “men” along with him (in the future) or not is the question, but a little unrelated to this precise release so…yeah!

KLYAM fave and legend Jay Reatard passed away. This came as just as much of a shock to us as it did to others. Though I did not know Jay personally (and if you’ve seen my ‘experience with Jay Reatard’ video, you know damn well), I was affected by his death. Just as he was at the peak of his solo career, I was at my peak in being a fan of his music. Since January 12, 2010, I’ve delved much deeper into his deep discography. If you haven’t already, do check out Angry Angles, Destruction Unit, The Reatards, The Lost Sounds, and Final Solutions.

King Khan and the Shrines – “Bite My Tongue” – Bruise Cruise 7″ – You might remember this one from the Shrines Fall 2010 tour. Maybe not. Either way the studio version has just arrived and it’s a nice segue back into some of that real rock’n'soulin KK+Shrines flavor that the KK Experience lacked! LISTEN

Baby Chuck – “Whatever Is Happening” – This is the band of the same named guitarist/songwriter in Orwells. “Whatever” is a rugged rock and roll’r with some slick guitar riffs that bring to mind the Smiff West, and a harmonica solo to finish things off! Mind Spiders – “Wait For Us” – Meltdown (Dirtnap) – Mind Spiders put out a really good S/T album last year. It had the supreme “Don’t Let Her Go” on it. This one is addictive from the start. Has that sort of instant garage pop charm that Reatard had down pat.

Life Partner – “King Nothing” – Dogs (Sophomore Lounge) – Dang, how had I missed out on Life Partner. I love the production on this one. The droney vocals and that real upfront drum set really make you PAY ATTENTION. Plus, it’s pretty short, so you can just go back and replay it. LISTEN/WEBSITE
