Book Review: A Tolerable Anarchy

Author: Jerediah Purdy
Genre: Non-Fiction/Politics

Comments: I like a book that makes me think. This one did exactly that. I enjoyed the various discussions Purdy brought up: the role of government, economic and political freedom, and political language. The title is a bit deceiving, because the book doesn’t advocate anarchy, but rather pinpoints what the U.S was in its infancy. Great usage of an Abraham Lincoln quote: “Whenever I hear any one arguing for slavery I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally.”

Grade: B+ (A great read, a little too much fluff at certain points though).
